The Outer Sunset Mercantile began as a craft and art market founded by "Ranger Angie" — the farmers market component expanded during the pandemic when it became a neighborhood gathering point. The maker side remains central: roughly half the 100+ vendors are artists, ceramicists, clothiers, plant sellers, and local organizations. This is what distinguishes it from every other SF farmers market — it functions more like a community festival every Sunday than a produce market with a side of crafts.

ABOUT THIS MARKET

The Outer Sunset Farmers Market & Mercantile launched during the pandemic as a community hub on 37th Avenue between Ortega and Pacheco — near St. Ignatius along Sunset Boulevard. Founded by "Ranger Angie" as a craft market that expanded to include farmers, it has become the anchor Sunday gathering for the entire west side of San Francisco. With about 100 total vendors and the city's largest kids activity zone (Legos, art stations, activity zones), it has a family festival character unique among SF markets.

The market's emphasis on Sunset-neighborhood vendors — Avant Baker (formerly of Outerlands), Marinucci's Pasta, and several other local food businesses — gives it a hyperlocal identity that larger, more diverse markets can't replicate. Beer and wine garden, live music, and kids programming make it an all-morning destination rather than a quick stop.
